Capstone Project
For my capstone project I set out to do record and mix 3 new original songs. I am happy to say that I completed my project and can't wait for these songs to be officially released.
"Mirror Heart"
This song was written about a short lived crush I had. We had been through some similar stuff so I was hoping it would work out, but I was too afraid to make a move and they ended up in a relationship with someone else.

I haven't written a lot of love songs and I don't really know if this counts as one necessarily, but I like it and feel strong about the how it all came together in the end.
"The Label"
I've been sitting on this song since 2020! It's about a conflicted adult man who is a husband and father, but realizes in the middle of all of that that he might not be the person he thought he was. The idea is basically that labels can be good and bad, you gotta figure out for yourself what's what.

I'm nervous about releasing this one because I don't want it to be taken the wrong way, but I think it's a fun song so I'm putting it out anyway!
"Hear Them Out"
"Hear Them Out" is about putting a hold on thinking about what other people are thinking. Self-doubt, insecurity, jealousy, etc. all get in the way of real communication.

I put a lot of pressure on myself to capture my vision for the other two songs in this capstone project, and really grew as a producer and mixing engineer throughout that process. However, I knew that this last song wasn't as "big". I wanted to give those other tunes some serious contrast by making something more airy and whimsical.
